Research


Research programs are led by scientific members of the department of Clinical Biochemistry.A number of our members have dual affiliations with research centers including Medical Biology Research Center and Fertility and Infertility Research Center.

 

At the Department of Clinical Biochemistry research focuses on the following areas:

 

* Genetic and epigenetic studies of human diseases with particular emphasis on:

  • Hemoglobinopathies

  • Diabetes Mellitus and its complications such as diabetic nephropathy

  • Cardiovascular diseases

  • Preeclampsia

  • Inborn metabolic diseases

 

* Structural and chemical basis of protein function

 

* Amyloid aggregation and enzyme inhibition
