Aims and Perspective
After the promotion of the Medical
School Research Management to the Vice Chancellor for Research and Technology
of the Medical School in March 2019 through the efforts of the new Dean of the
Medical School, Prof. Babak Sayad, the new Vice chancellor expanded its
activities in terms of scientific quantity and quality. To improve the quality
of the research and technology and to develop it in the fields of Basic and
Clinical Medical Sciences, the Vice Chancellor for Research and Technology
aimed to:

Provide
the necessary background for the implementation and fulfillment of research
projects including student theses/dissertations, research projects of faculty members,
as well as projects related to the disease registration system;
·
Prepare
areas for scientific collaboration with various organizations and universities both
domestically and internationally;
·
Implement
ministerial and university bylaws, and revision of existing bylaws and
regulations;
·
Train
the faculty members and students to develop original, clinical and applied research
preparation in students through holding seminars and workshops;
·
Improve
the quantity and quality of the output of research projects;
·
Monitor
the implementation of research projects;
·
Expand
the collaborative research projects between faculty members in basic and
clinical groups;
·
Prepare
the fields for making a research link between the research of the scientific
faculty members with the community requirements and with the industry and
technology section.
To accomplish these goals, the policy
of the expanded department is to plan, manage and encourage the faculty members
and students for improving the scientific quality of the research projects
using new facilities of the department. Current duties and functions of Vice
President of Research and Technology include:
§ Policy making for development of high quality
and applied research projects through making sessions with Dean of Faculty,
three managers of the department and also with the manager of the Students
Research Committee of the faculty
§ Making sessions with Vice Chancellor of
Research and Technology of University related to the improvement of the
research
§ Management of the meetings of the Faculty
Research Council to review and approve the theses/dissertations and research
projects of the Faculty of Medicine;
§ Executive all steps thesis registration and
delivery at all levels of the study including medical students, specialty and
sub-specialty residents, PhDs, general practitioner and master's degree;
§ Supervising thesis defense meetings;
§ Management of the holding briefings,
seminars, top theses and top student projects festivals, research workshops and
summer schools to empower university students, professors and researchers.
In addition, in order to expand the
research unit and to help achieve the goals of this unit, various programs are
defined in the short and long term perspective of the department:
¾ Expanding and completing the online portal of
Vice Chancellor for Research and Technology of the School, with the aim of
disseminating news of research activities, events and opportunities;
¾ Organizing the Research Ethics Committee of
the Faculty of Medicine;
¾ Establishing and setting up of theses
electronic database;
¾ Establishing an electronic database of
research projects and promoting the qualitative and quantitative evaluation of the
projects;
¾ Providing necessary arrangements to encourage
researchers and to value their research activities;
¾ Continuation of holding research congresses,
conferences and festivals with higher quality;
¾ Optimizing the management of the College
Library affairs as a subsidiary.
