Training surgical residents who are the future leaders of academic surgery is the most important thing we do at the Department of General Surgery at Kermanshah University of Medical Sciences. There is a unique commitment by each of the faculty to teach and mentor residents, whether this is in the operating room, the office or the laboratory. We are constantly trying to do things better, and this important interaction not only makes for better resident education, but a much more collegial and supportive atmosphere.
