The Department of Health & Social Medicine strives to improve the health of underserved communities and populations by addressing important clinical, epidemiologic, educational, health services, and health policy questions, and conducting research that understands and responds to urban underserved populations' health and healthcare needs. Our efforts promote collaboration between academic and clinical departments and among community-based health, education, social service, and other institutions to generate new knowledge.
