The Department of Pathology contributes to the Faculty of Medicine’s robust biomedical research endeavors. The skills and interests of the department’s academic staff span the range of cell biology and disease pathogenesis. Our research facilities are diverse and contemporary, and include a several state-of-the-art core laboratories that contribute to investigative activities throughout the medical faculty.
Because pathology combines basic research in disease pathogenesis with clinical medicine, our discipline is ideally positioned to lead in many areas of so-called translational research. Pathology will continue to play important roles in moving new scientific discoveries from the lab bench to the clinical bedside.
The department has outstanding physical support for its diverse basic, clinical, and translational research activities. Pathology faculty and programs are located at several sites on the medical campus.
