Historic Achievement for Kermanshah University of Medical
Sciences in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2026
The Vice-Chancellor for Research
and Technology announced that Kermanshah University of Medical Sciences has
achieved the first national rank in the 2026 Times Higher Education (THE) World
University Rankings.

Professor
Zohreh Rahimi, speaking about this outstanding accomplishment, stated that in
the latest results of the Times Higher Education World University Rankings
2026—released on October 9, 2025 (18 Mehr 1404)—Kermanshah University of
Medical Sciences made a remarkable leap of 50 positions. For the second
consecutive year, the university secured the top position among all medical
universities in Iran and also achieved the first national rank among all
Iranian universities, including those under both the Ministry of Health and the
Ministry of Science. Moreover, the university has earned a place among the
world’s top 351–400 universities.

Rahimi emphasized that this remarkable and pride-inspiring achievement marks an
unprecedented milestone in the history of Iran’s Ministry of Health and Medical
Education, placing Kermanshah University of Medical Sciences alongside the
nation’s leading technological institutions such as Sharif University of
Technology and Amirkabir University of Technology at the summit of Iran’s
academic excellence.
She
noted that the Times Higher Education World University Rankings is one of the
most reputable international university assessment systems. In 2026, THE
evaluated universities based on 18 key performance indicators across five core
pillars: teaching, research environment, research quality, international
outlook, and industry income and innovation.
Professor
Rahimi further added that Kermanshah University of Medical Sciences has truly
made history—an achievement that is the result of years of strategic planning,
collective effort, scientific perseverance, and unwavering faith in national
potential. The university’s significant progress in global rankings and its
attainment of the top national position demonstrate that through organizational
cohesion, conviction, and a steadfast focus on enhancing quality in education,
research, and healthcare services, it is possible to reach the highest peaks of
scientific excellence from any corner of our beloved Iran.
She
extended her sincere congratulations to the university president, all faculty
members, researchers, staff, and students, expressing deep appreciation for the
invaluable efforts and dedication of all individuals whose commitment and
perseverance brought about this historic honor. In particular, she highlighted
the crucial and strategic roles of the Vice-Chancellories for Research and
Technology and for Education—and their affiliated departments, especially the
Office of Scientific Resources and Information Management—in advancing the
university’s academic and research programs and strengthening its international
performance indicators.

Professor Rahimi expressed hope that, with reliance on Almighty God and through
continued collaboration and collective wisdom, Kermanshah University of Medical
Sciences will continue to shine ever more brightly in national, scientific,
research, and international arenas.
