About the Department
The Department of English Language consists of one full-time faculty member, one contractual faculty member, and several adjunct instructors holding Master's and Ph.D. degrees in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL).
The department is responsible for offering the following courses:
- Pre-University English 1 and 2 (for Iranian students)
- Introductory English 1, 2, 3, and 4 (for international students)
- English for General Academic Purposes (for both Iranian and international students across all disciplines at the university)
- Medical Terminology 1 and 2 for medical students
In the Pre-University English and Introductory English courses, students learn the meanings and usage of a wide range of essential and basic vocabulary. They are introduced to fundamental English sentence structures and become familiar with techniques for reading and understanding English texts.
In the English for General Academic Purposes course, students expand their academic and semi-specialized vocabulary and develop various strategies for reading and comprehending academic English texts.
In the Medical Terminology 1 and 2 courses, medical students are introduced to the etymology of specialized medical terms. They learn the meanings and contextual usage of these terms and develop skills for reading and understanding discipline-specific texts relevant to their field of study.
